If you’re looking for just the right gift for friends and co-workers, a gift basket may be the perfect choice. I love putting gift baskets together because I can typically purchase the items in bulk, especially if I’m shopping online. It’s more economical and I don’t have to run all over town finding just the right items.

My process is to decide on a theme and use the same one for all the gift baskets that I’m going to be making. I just arrange the items in the basket, encase it all in cellophane, tie it with a ribbon and present it to my recipient. How easy is that?

This year, I’m going with the classic Hot Chocolate theme. Who wouldn’t love to receive a basket full of all those goodies? Most folks aren’t going to purchase a hot cocoa gift basket for themselves, but when you receive one as a gift, it’s like a luxury item, often full of additional ingredients that you wouldn’t typically have on hand to make a cup of hot cocoa.

Not only is it fun to put these together, but I know that whomever receives it will be delighted.

Here’s how to put a hot chocolate gift basket together:

Choose The Container
First, choose your basket or box. Here’s a pack of boxes that are specifically made for building gift baskets. Or, you can go with a handled basket, like this one. Next, you’ll need cellophane to encase it all. And don’t forget a pretty ribbon to tie it all up with a festive bow!

What To Include
You’ll want to include a hot chocolate mIx and, of course, a mug.

You’ll definitely need marshmallows! Instead of adding an entire bag, divide it up and add a handful of marshmallows to a smaller cellophane bag to include in the basket. You could also include hot chocolate bombs for a fun touch.

Don’t forget chocolate sauce for the perfect drizzle on top of the marshmallows. The basket wouldn’t be complete without including festive peppermint candy canes.

While enjoying a cup of hot chocolate, your recipient will need something sweet to munch on. How about a pack of these gingerbread biscotti cookies or go classic with a little pack of chocolate chip cookies.

Have fun assembling these hot chocolate baskets, knowing that your recipients will be completely thrilled to receive it.
